About

Lakshmi Palecanda is from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. She did her graduation in Horticulture at the College of Horticulture, Tamil Nadu Agriculture University, Coimbatore. She then won a Rotary Scholarship to study in the United States. She did her M.S. in Biological Sciences at Montana State University, Bozeman, Montana, USA. Following this, she worked as a Research Associate in the subjects Plant Molecular Biology, Protein Crystallography and Immunology in Toronto, Boston and Bozeman. Her research yielded 3 research papers and one abstract. Lakshmi was always very interested in reading fiction. She had also written a couple of articles that were published in The Hindustan Times in 1990, when she was a student. But her life was all about Science, until 2004, when she happened to attend a 6-week course on writing for publication. This proved to be a life-changer, as her previous interest in writing came back in full force. She began writing small articles which were accepted by the newspaper in the small town she lived in. In all, the newspaper published 10 articles of hers.
